9-1-1 Information.

 

THE EMERGENCY 9-1-1 SYSTEM

9-1-1 is for EMERGENCY ONLY.  All other calls for assistance should be made to our non-emergency number: 973-239-4100

The Cedar Grove Police Department is equipped with an enhanced 9-1-1 system.  This system displays the name, address, and phone number of where the call is being made.  The information is used to confirm the location of the emergency.  It is important for callers to provide the location of the emergency to confirm the location.  Callers should initiate 9-1-1 for all crimes in progress, medical emergencies, fires, and serious accidents which require an immediate response.  Callers will be asked to provide their name, location, and nature of the emergency.  If you dial 9-1-1 by accident, DO NOT HANG UP.  Stay on the line and report that the number was dialed in error.

Under NJ Law, it is illegal to make false/prank phone calls to 9-1-1.
