Cedar Grove Police Blotter Week of July 19, 2010 On
Monday, July 19th., police investigated a
report of criminal mischief to a Bortic Road
residence. The victim reported that some
unknown person(s) had broken a rear window to the home. There was no evidence of entry to the home
and the cost to repair the window was unknown at the time of report. ***************************************** On Monday, July 19th.,
a Montclair Avenue resident report the theft of two laptop computers from her
residence. The victim reported that the
computers were stolen sometime between July 8th.
and July 14th., while she was away on
vacation. The stolen laptops, an Apple
and a Dell, had an aggregate value of $1,800.00. There was no evidence of forced entry to the
home and the matter was referred to the detective bureau for follow-up
investigation. **************************************** On
Monday, July 19th., police investigated the
theft of iPhone from the High School. The victim reported that while at football
practice, some unknown person(s) removed the phone from duffle bag in the
school locker room. The value of the
stolen iPhone was estimated at $350.00. **************************************** On
Tuesday, July 20th., police responded to the
VFW Hall on Pompton Avenue on a report of an attempted forced entry. The building manager reported that sometime
during the overnight hours, some unknown person(s) attempted to gain entry to
the building by prying open a window. It
is unknown if entry was actually gained and nothing appeared to be missing from
the building. **************************************** On Tuesday, July 20th. at
11:10 a.m., Ptl. Michael Grasso initiated a motor
vehicle stop for an observed violation.
A subsequent check of the New Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) computer
revealed that the operator’s driving privileges were under suspension. The 42 year-old operator, Keisha L. Singleton
of Montclair, was arrested on the charge, processed at police headquarters and
released pending a Municipal Court appearance. **************************************** On Thursday, July 22nd. at
10:01 p.m., police arrested a West Orange woman on charges that she operating
an uninsured motor vehicle bearing a suspended NJ registration while her NJ
driving privileges were under suspension.
The 33 year-old defendant, Inga M. Armstrong, was processed on the
charges and released pending a Municipal Court appearance. The defendant’s vehicle, a 2008 Mini Cooper,
was impounded. Ptl.
Jose Rodriguez was the arresting officer. **************************************** On Friday,
July 23rd., a Tiffany Court resident
reported the theft of two lawn ornaments.
The resident reported that some unknown person(s) had stolen two bird
shaped copper ornaments from her front lawn sometime in late May. The value of the stolen property was
estimated at $2,000.00. **************************************** On Friday,
July 23rd., a Summit Avenue resident
reported the theft of two bicycles from a shed located behind his
residence. The stolen bicycles were
described as Schwin mountain bikes, one maroon and
one grey in color. The theft occurred sometime between Tuesday, July 20th. and Friday, July 23rd. The aggregate value of the stolen bicycles
was $340.00. **************************************** On
Friday, July 23rd. at 7:33 p.m., police responded to the Vanderberg Place area on a complaint of solicitors going
door to door. The complainant also
indicated that one of the subjects had urinated in the backyard of one of the
homes. A subsequent investigation
resulted in the location of the three involved subjects and a determination was
made that the group was attempting to sell magazine subscriptions without being
properly licensed by the Township. The
subjects, Amanda N. Ramey, 22, of Nacogdoches, Texas, Joe Parks Junior II, 25,
of Shelby, Texas and Daniel A. Wilkes, 19, of Englewood, Colorado were issued
Township Ordinance Summonses for soliciting without a license. Lt. Dale Carriker
and Ptl. Jason Wolfstirn
were the investigating officers. **************************************** On
Friday, July 23rd. at 10:19 p.m., police responded to Anderson
Parkway on a complaint that juveniles were igniting fireworks. Responding officers located the group of five
juveniles and subsequently found one of them in possession of several items of
fireworks. All of the involved juveniles
were turned over to their guardians at the scene and the matter was referred to
the Juvenile Officer for disposition. ***************************************** Cedar
